MEET OUR CULINARY LEADERS BEHIND M&G FOODSTUFF

Behind every beautifully plated dish and thoughtfully curated menu at M&G Foodstuff is a team of passionate chefs who bring creativity, expertise, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Our kitchen isn’t just about cooking—it’s about crafting experiences, using the best seasonal ingredients, and constantly pushing the boundaries of what catering can be.

In this edition of Chef’s Corner, we’re pulling back the curtain to introduce you to the talented culinary leaders behind our food. From sourcing the freshest produce to designing dishes that are as visually stunning as they are delicious, our chefs are at the heart of everything we do.

 

CHEF DAVID

Title: Executive Chef

Background & Experience: David began his career at the Michelin Starred One Market Restaurant & has since led hotel & restaurant kitchens San Francisco Magazine & The Michelin Bib Gourmand 3 times.  He joined M&G Foodstuff after his time as Executive Chef at the Arlo Hotel Midtown.

Philosophy and Inspiration: Spending his formative years cooking in Northern California & Italy, David's philosophy is to find the best local products & let the ingredients speak for themselves.  He is guided by two things said to him by some of his mentors as a line cook: "If you have the best ingredients, you don't need to change them too much" & "Sometimes the most important ingredient is the one you leave out"

Favorite M&G Dish to Cook: David loves a good M&G Salad, “Especially in the winter when we get all of the beautiful chicories & citrus”.

Fun Facts: David is an avid boxer & whenever he travels will bring his gear & pop into a local gym.  "It's a great way of meeting local people & connecting with them over a shared passion".

 

A DAY IN THE LIFE

A day in the life of our chefs starts early—sometimes as early as 4 AM. The kitchen buzzes to life with the prepping and plating of fresh, seasonal ingredients for our many breakfast and lunch orders. As the day unfolds, the team moves with precision, the kitchen running like a well-oiled machine, executing a packed schedule of orders and events. Whether crafting elegant canapés for a high-profile launch or assembling an abundant family-style spread for drop-off catering, every dish reflects their dedication to quality and the unmistakable M&G Foodstuff touch.

 

CHEF RAGEED

Title: Executive Sous Chef

Background & Experience: Originally from Jamaica, Chef Raj brought his culinary talents to M&G Foodstuff in 2015, making him our longest-standing team member. With years of experience in high-end catering, he has honed his skills in both technique and presentation, becoming a true master of his craft.

Philosophy and Inspiration: Raj believes that great food is a balance of flavor, texture, and visual appeal. His passion for plating is unmatched, and he takes pride in creating dishes that are as beautiful as they are delicious. Inspired by his Caribbean roots and seasonal ingredients, he brings a fresh, artistic touch to every dish.

Favorite M&G Dish to Cook: Raj’s focaccia is legendary—perfectly golden, airy, and infused with just the right balance of olive oil and sea salt. He also loves assembling vibrant, thoughtfully plated spreads that highlight the best of each season’s produce.

Fun Facts: When he’s not in the kitchen, Raj loves traveling to visit friends and exploring new destinations. He’s also a big fan of country music and uses any chance he can get to put on his cowboy boots.

 

CHEF KEITH

Title: Sous Chef

Background & Experience: Keith went to Culinary School in Philadelphia. While there, he worked as a chef at both the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Kimmel Center of Performing Arts. After moving back to New Jersey he further honed his culinary and catering skills while working for Deborah Miller Catering as their PM Sous Chef before coming to M&G. 

Philosophy and Inspiration: “My Dad played a large part in my decision to pursue Culinary Arts, he is an amazing home cook and worked in the Wedding/Catering Business when I was a child.” Keith loves working with his hands and to teach, he hopes to one day be an Executive Chef. 

Favorite M&G Dish to Cook: Keith enjoys working with M&G's seasonal ingredients and making the infamous M&G Focaccia, “I feel mine may be the best!”. He also enjoys cooking comfort food and meals that he grew up with like mac and cheese, potato or cauliflower gratin and smoked and braised meats.

Fun Facts: Keith was born and raised in NJ. He is a huge sports fan of the NY Giants and WVU Mountaineers and also a proud girl Dad, “My family means the world to me”. He loves spending time outside and hopes to one day travel to Zambia to “See where my Wife was born and experience her culture”.
